Art Curriculum at a Glance
Kindergartners will be refining fine motor skills, through drawing, painting, gluing, and cutting. Students will also learn how to use tools such as sponges, rollers, straws, and marbles.
First graders will be drawing, painting, sculpting, and building. Discovering their individuality and enhanced creativity will be major objectives.
Second Grade will be focusing on expressing their feelings, and moods through artwork. They will learn about different artists and illustrators, and illustrate their own stories.
Third Graders will also begin to learn art appreciation, where we will focus on describing, relating, interpreting, and valuing art.
Fourth Grade will continue to learn art appreciation, where we will focus on describing, relating, interpreting, and valuing art. They will learn shading and landscape techniques.
Fifth graders will learn about contour, still life, portrait, and perspective drawing. They will create seasonal art, Native American crafts, and recycled art projects as well as multicultural art projects.
Sixth grade will study Op art and art history. Other projects will include seasonal art, paper maché crafts, recycled art projects, facemasks, jewelry, advertising, as well as architectural projects.
Seventh grade drawing techniques will include contour, mass, still life, perspective, and pen and ink. Students will study art history, become familiar with the local art environment, interior design, and animal paper maché masks.
Eighth graders create seasonal art, architecture, printmaking, line designs, and masks of the world.
Challenge Program Curriculum at a Glance
An interdisciplinary process approach will be emphasized through individual and small group work. Students will investigate new and different processes for solving problems, which will incorporate analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and fluent, flexible creative thought. Students will participate in the program for a trimester, and may be included in the program in succeeding trimester(s). Hallmarks of the program will be:
- Small group learning in the areas of critical and creative thinking skills;
- Opportunities for independent study;
- Extension of regular classroom curriculum; and
- The development of a positive sense of self
Latin Curriculum at a Glance

Library Curriculum at a Glance
Kindergarten and First Grade students will learn the proper organization of the library media center as well as proper book care and procedure for checking in and out books. They will learn basic library skills through interactive worksheets and group activities.
Second graders will be taught how to locate a book in the library through ABC order and by searching on our library computers. They will be taught how to identify characteristics of major literary genres with both the fiction and non-fiction sections of the library over the course of the school year.Third graders will improve their location skills in the library during the school year and the Dewey Decimal System will be introduced and covered at great length. They will be re-introduced to the various forms of literature and will be encouraged to read books from different genres. They will learn about our reference collection and be shown how to use both the encyclopedias and dictionaries in the library through worksheets and team activities.
Fourth graders will become re-acquainted with location skills in the card catalog system. Power Library will be introduced along with other available internet sources on our library computers. They will become familiar with the various periodicals in the library and will engage in some fun research and reporting activities.
Fifth graders will use both the card catalog system and Power Library for improving their search skills in the library. They will work closely with the Dewey Decimal System and our reference collection. Almanacs and atlases will be used to answer trivia worksheets. They will be introduced to indexes and taught how to locate information using them.
Sixth graders will refresh basic library skills along with being introduced to our audiovisual materials and equipment. They will be shown how to operate the equipment and possibly use as accompaniment to a report. Bibliographies will be introduced and worksheets will be provided so that they become familiar with the structure of a bibliography.
Seventh graders will refresh basic library skills and be able to choose appropriate material to read independently. They will be expected to use the library as a resource for classroom assignments given by their seventh-grade teacher.
Music Curriculum at a Glance
study pitch, identify elements of music, listening and vocalization study and learn about composers of Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th century music perform and study theatre arts including choreography styles and all other components of theatre.
Physical Education Curriculum at a Glance
Primary (K-2): Students will be working on their locomotor and non-locomotor skills, health topics, soccer, volleyball, baseball, dance and many more fun activities.
Intermediate (3-5): Students will be working on teamwork skills, soccer, basketball, and baseball. They will have health and nutrition, dance, and much more.
Junior High (6-8): Students will focus on the rules and skills of many sports. They will be learning more on health and nutrition, fitness, dance, and much more.
Team Building at all levels. All classes will be learning Nutrition and "Healthy Habits"
